They are undertaking a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation initiative to modernize engineering, manufacturing, configuration management, and sustainment operations. Summary
TRC Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced SAP PLM Functional Consultant / Architect to lead the design and implementation of SAP S/4HANA 2023 Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) capabilities integrated with Teamcenter. This individual will serve as the functional and technical PLM lead responsible for engineering change management, BOM synchronization, document management, CAD data integration, and engineering-to-order (ETO) process design. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SAP PLM configuration, Teamcenter integration, Engineering Change Management (ECM), and manufacturing environments where engineering data must seamlessly flow into ERP systems. This role partners closely with engineering, configuration management, production planning, program management, and sustainment teams to establish scalable governance and best practices supporting complex project manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Architect end-to-end integration between Teamcenter and SAP S/4HANA, including engineering change orders, BOM synchronization, document management, and CAD data exchange.
Define and implement engineering-to-order (ETO) business processes, including engineering BOMs, configuration control, variant structures, and change propagation into manufacturing and sustainment operations.
Design and configure SAP Engineering Change Management (ECM), including change masters, effectivity rules, workflows, and impact analysis.
Evaluate and design integration solutions using SAP ECTR, Teamcenter Gateway, BAPIs, IDocs, and API-based interfaces.
Configure SAP Document Management System (DMS), including document types, version control, status networks, and CAD integration workflows.
Establish governance models for engineering data ownership, release management, document control, and version synchronization between Teamcenter and SAP.
Define how engineering changes impact production BOMs, routings, work orders, purchase requisitions, and sustainment materials.
Support project manufacturing and Task Order execution by designing engineering structures tied to project stock, WBS elements, and individual requirements materials.
Develop PLM reporting and analytics including engineering change status, BOM comparisons, configuration baselines, and SAP Fiori/CDS reporting content.
Lead Blueprint and design workshops with engineering, configuration management, production planning, program management, and sustainment stakeholders.
Develop functional design documents, configuration workbooks, functional specifications, UAT scripts, and project documentation.
Maintain project decision logs, issue tracking, and implementation documentation.
Support testing, deployment activities, training, and post-go-live stabilization efforts.
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems, Supply Chain, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 6 years of SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) configuration and implementation experience.
Experience supporting at least two full lifecycle SAP implementations.
Hands-on experience integrating Teamcenter with SAP using ECTR, Gateway, BAPIs, IDocs, APIs, or similar technologies.
Demonstrated expertise with engineering change management (ECO/ECR), BOM synchronization, material governance, and document management.
Strong understanding of engineering-to-order (ETO) manufacturing processes and configuration control.
Experience integrating SAP PLM with Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), Project Systems (PS), and Controlling (CO).
Ability to facilitate business workshops and gather requirements from engineering, configuration management, and project stakeholders.
Strong documentation skills, including functional specifications, solution designs, and UAT test scripts.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Preferred
SAP Certified Application Associate certification in SAP S/4HANA Project Systems or related SAP discipline.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA 2022 or 2023 on-premise PLM implementations.
Experience supporting aerospace, defense, government contracting, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with IDIQ and Task Order contract structures.
Understanding of EVMS and DoD program controls, including IPMDAR, BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, contract WBS structures, and DCMA schedule assessments.
Experience with project manufacturing concepts including project stock, WBS BOMs, individual requirements materials, and assembly processing.
Knowledge of SAP PMMO (Project Manufacturing Management and Optimization) or related project manufacturing solutions.
Familiarity with SAP Production Engineering and Operations (PEO).
Experience with SAP Fiori applications, CDS views, and project reporting solutions.
Exposure to SAP Financial Project Control (FPC), Commercial Project Management (CPM), or SAP Enterprise Portfolio and Project Management (EPPM).
