Harmony Loft Cafe is looking for a hands-on General Manager / Barista to lead day-to-day cafe operations while staying active on the floor. This role blends people leadership, scheduling, customer service, and operational management with barista/cashier shifts. You’ll also partner closely with our chef team to keep service smooth, food quality consistent, and the guest experience top-notch.
Key responsibilities
Cafe operations (day-to-day leadership)
- Run daily front-of-house operations: opening/closing, service flow, cleanliness, and guest experience
- Maintain standards for hospitality, speed of service, and product quality
- Troubleshoot issues in real time (staffing gaps, guest concerns, equipment hiccups, supply shortages)
- Create and maintain simple systems/checklists to keep the cafe organized and consistent
Scheduling & team management
- Build, post, and maintain weekly schedules; manage shift coverage and time-off requests
- Train and coach baristas/cashiers on service, POS, drinks, and customer experience
- Lead pre-shift huddles and provide clear direction during peak periods
- Help with hiring, onboarding, and performance feedback as needed
Barista & cashier coverage (working manager)
- Actively work shifts as a barista and cashier, including peak times
- Prepare espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee/tea, and specialty beverages to standard
- Handle POS transactions accurately; manage refunds, comps, and guest requests appropriately
- Maintain front-of-house organization: condiment station, retail displays, seating areas, and restrooms
Coordination with chef team
- Work directly with the chef team to align timing, menu execution, and service pacing
- Communicate 86’s, prep updates, and service needs between FOH and BOH
- Support menu rollouts and specials by ensuring FOH is trained and prepared
Social media & community presence
- Support social media content and day-to-day posting (stories, specials, behind-the-scenes, events)
- Coordinate with the chef team on featured items and promotions
- Help maintain an up-to-date, on-brand presence (basic photo/video capture, captions, responding to messages as assigned)
Inventory & admin (as needed)
- Assist with ordering and maintaining stock levels for FOH supplies (coffee, milks, cups, paper goods, etc.)
- Track waste/spoilage and help implement cost-control practices
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed (front-of-house compliance)
Qualifications
- 2 years in a cafe/coffee shop leadership role (shift lead, assistant manager, or manager) preferred
- Strong barista skills (espresso, milk steaming, workflow, dialing in basics) and POS experience
- Proven ability to schedule, lead a team, and maintain service standards
- Comfortable creating social content and supporting basic posting/engagement
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills—especially across FOH/BOH
- Calm under pressure, organized, and solutions-oriented

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
