Sweet William's Coffee Shop & Bakery is looking for an enthusiastic, personable individual to work as barista, preparing and serving hot and cold beverages including various types of coffee and tea. We are a small, independent coffee shop and scratch bakery that has been part of the Salisbury community for over 15 years! Responsibilities of the barista include taking orders, educating customers on our drink and pastry menus, and making recommendations based on their preferences. To be successful in the barista role, you should have excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively in a team work environment. Weekday and weekend shifts required (between 7am - 6pm). This is a permanent part-time position. Note: this position’s compensation includes hourly wage and tips.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers
- Take orders while paying attention to details
- Prepare beverages following recipes
- Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Keep the bar area clean
- Re-stock pastry and dessert items
- Maintain stock and supplies
- Light cleaning (removing trash, recycling, dishwashing, etc.)
- Comply with health and safety regulations
Qualifications
- Proven experience in customer service and cash handling
- Strong barista skills with a solid understanding of coffee preparation and serving
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Excellent time management
- Knowledge of food safety and handling practices
