Water Treatment Plant Operator
The Milford Water Department’s system is comprised of two treatment facilities, four pump stations, three storage tanks, and approximately 9,300 service connections. The Water Treatment Plant Operator position will be responsible for all facets of water treatment operations. The operator will be asked to conduct a variety of treatment-related activities.
Essential Functions
Performs system maintenance on treatment plant facilities/equipment and/or replacement of existing facilities/equipment as required. May operate associated power tools and hand tools, and other equipment associated with repairs/installations.
Repairs and replaces chemical pumps, chemical feed equipment, and piping. Work may include landscaping activities.
All other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar position.
A valid driver’s license is required as well as the ability to obtain a 1T or higher Massachusetts Drinking Water License within six (6) months of hire.
Must reside within a half hour drive from the department office at 66 Dilla Street, Milford, Ma.
Preferred Qualifications, Education, and Experience
Experience with water system controls is helpful as well as general computer experience. Bilingual in English and Portuguese or English and Spanish is beneficial. A good understanding of water treatment construction and operations is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of excavation safety practices and the ability to follow department safety procedures and practices is essential.
Must have the ability to read, analyze, interpret and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Plan interpretation and regulation comprehension is essential.
Starting pay is a step 1, $27.51 per hour on a scale that ranges from $27.51 to $37.15 per hour.
