Job Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing the Public Works Highway Division programs and activities, including planning, implementing, and supervising complex projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction management, maintenance, or repair, snow/ice removal experience, supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate will be able to develop and monitor budgets, supervise subordinate staff, evaluate department operations, policies, and procedures, and work effectively with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Manages budgets, schedules, and implements Public Work construction and maintenance operations.
- Supervises subordinate staff, evaluates department operations, policies, and procedures.
- Works under the supervision of the Public Works Director and exercises supervision over the Highway crew, parks employees, and a secretary.
- Coordinates with private contractors employed by the Town for maintenance work.
- Trains lower-level employees on maintenance, construction, and repair of street and storm drainage facilities.
- Conducts inspections and repairs of streets, drainage systems, and storm sewer systems.
- Schedules and coordinates routine maintenance of public ways, sidewalks, and storm drain systems.
- Maintains records and responds to complaints and service requests.
- Manages procurement of equipment, hiring of contractors, and project execution.
- Represents the Town at committee meetings and coordinates with other departments.
- Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations.
