Job Overview
Total Tech, LLC is seeking an IT & Network Installation Technician to support residential and small-business clients throughout Western North Carolina. Based in Etowah, NC, this role focuses on installing, configuring, and supporting computer systems, home and small-office networks, WiFi infrastructure, and integrated audio/video technology.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in computers and networking who enjoys hands-on field work. You'll troubleshoot real-world connectivity and system issues, set up reliable technology environments, and work directly with clients to ensure their systems are functional, secure, and easy to use.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot computers, home offices, printers, and peripherals
- Set up and optimize WiFi networks, routers, switches, and access points for homes and small businesses
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and device integration issues
- Support and integrate audio/video systems within networked environments
- Install and configure smart home and connected devices that rely on network infrastructure
- Run, terminate, label, and organize data cabling to professional standards
- Perform software setup, updates, and basic system optimization
- Use hand and power tools to mount equipment and complete installations safely
- Provide clear, client-friendly explanations of system operation and best practices
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, passwords (when authorized), and service notes
Experience & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with computer systems, networking, IT support, or related technical work
- Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS environments
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP, routers, switches, and WiFi concepts
- Ability to follow technical documentation and troubleshoot independently
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or in tight spaces
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred:
- Experience supporting small offices or home IT environments
- Familiarity with networked AV systems or smart home platforms
- Experience with printers, NAS devices, or basic server setups
- Certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or similar
