Total Tech, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AV & IT Systems Installation Technician to join our team based in Etowah, NC, serving residential and small-business clients throughout Western North Carolina. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting modern technology systems including audio/video setups, WiFi and networking infrastructure, smart home devices, and IT equipment.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving in the field, and delivering clean, reliable installations. You'll work directly with clients and apply both technical and mechanical skills to ensure systems are installed properly and function as intended.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure audio and video systems, including TVs, sound systems, media rooms, and home theaters
- Set up and optimize WiFi networks, routers, switches, and access points
- Run, terminate, label, and organize structured cabling to professional standards
- Install and support smart home technology such as lighting controls, automation devices, and connected home equipment
- Assist with IT services, including computer setup, home offices, printers, and basic troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues during on-site visits
- Use hand and power tools to safely mount equipment and complete installations
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, system layouts, and service notes
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, including basic system walkthroughs
Experience & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with AV installation, networking, IT support, or related technical work
- Comfortable working with cabling, networking equipment, and mounted hardware
- Ability to follow installation guides, diagrams, and technical documentation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or in tight spaces
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred:
- Experience with smart home platforms and connected devices
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and network troubleshooting
- Prior field service or residential installation experience
- Technical certifications are a plus but not required
