Job Overview
Total Tech, LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AV & IT Installation Technician to join our growing team in Etowah, NC. In this role, you will work hands-on installing, configuring, and supporting residential and small-business technology systems including audio/video, networking, smart home solutions, and IT infrastructure.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world technical problems, working directly with clients, and delivering clean, reliable installations. You'll be exposed to a wide range of modern technologies while developing both technical and customer-facing skills in a fast-growing company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install and configure audio/video systems, including TV mounting, soundbars, surround sound, media rooms, and home theater components
- Set up and troubleshoot WiFi networks, routers, switches, access points, and structured cabling
- Perform CAT-6 and speaker wire installation, cable routing, termination, labeling, and cleanup to professional standards
- Install and support smart home and automation systems (lighting, IoT devices)
- Assist with IT services, including computer setup, basic troubleshooting, home offices, printers, and peripherals
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues during on-site service calls
- Use hand tools and mechanical skills to safely mount equipment, run cables, and secure installations
- Educate clients on system operation and provide clear, professional explanations
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, system layouts, and service notes
- Follow safety standards, job-site best practices, and company installation procedures
- Support larger projects and collaborate with lead technicians as needed
Experience & Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of hands-on experience in AV installation, IT support, networking, or related technical field
- Experience with Ethernet termination, and basic networking concepts
- Ability to read and follow schematics, installation guides, and technical documentation
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and access attics or crawlspaces
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with smart home platforms, or automation systems
- Basic IT troubleshooting experience (PCs, Macs, networking devices)
- Familiarity with home theaters, surround sound, or commercial AV systems
- Certifications such as CompTIA A , Network , or manufacturer training
- Prior field service or residential installation experience
