Swine Barn Maintenance

Herrondale Sow Farm Barn – Henry, TN

Swine Barn Maintenance’s primary responsibility is to perform ongoing maintenance and complete repairs on equipment to keep the swine process running smoothly. Duties include a variety of building and land maintenance tasks involving building repair and manure management.

In this role you should expect to

• Perform general and preventative maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment inside and outside the farm

• Pump manure from pits

• Maintain grounds outside facility – this includes trash removal, operating tractor to cut grass/fields, removal of snow/ice on roads in winter, adding gravel due to wash out

o Mowing

o Weed cutting

o Bushhogging

• Complete all maintenance tasks related to electrical, carpentry, welding, heating, ventilation, plumbing, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned

• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, repair and/or replace parts

• Control pests on property and in buildings (rodents, insects)

• Maintain compost pile

• Champion Safety Culture

• Follow and adhere to all company policies and procedures

• Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• General maintenance experience, including electrical and welding skills.
• Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, machinery, and heavy equipment.
• Ability to respond to maintenance emergencies outside of normal working hours, as needed.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and repeatedly lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) for extended periods as required by the job.
• Ability to move throughout the worksite, including walking over uneven surfaces and accessing work areas.
• Ability to frequently bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb ladders or stairs, and reach as necessary to perform maintenance tasks.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and other conditions typical of maintenance work.
• Ability to safely operate a company vehicle when required for job duties.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, including grasping, gripping, pushing, pulling, and handling tools and equipment.
