Sow Farm Herdsmen 11

The Sow Herdsmen is responsible for providing excellent and comprehensive animal care and entire breeding life cycle of our swine herd under the direction of the Department Head and Farm Manager.

This position is located in McKenzie, TN.

In this role you should expect to:

• Work in a cohesive team environment to provide excellent daily, essential care to swine herd
• Assist with farrowing, breeding and gestation
• Move animals using safe handling practices
• Wean pigs according to farm protocols
• Load and unload pigs as scheduled
• Provide proactive and responsive care to promote wellness amongst herd
• Adhere to all bio-security standards (ex. showering in and out of facilities)
• Help ensure cleanliness and sanitation of work area
• Work weekend and holiday hours as required on a rotational basis
• Champion a Safety culture
• Follow all company policy and procedures
• Carry out other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Relevant experience is valued; however, we also encourage candidates with transferable skills, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn to apply. Training and development opportunities are available for the right candidate.
• No prior experience required — training will be provided

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods (8–10 hours per day)
• Ability to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds
• Ability to work around pigs daily
• Ability to work in dusty environments and varying hot/cold temperatures
• Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary: $32,285 annually
• Monthly production bonus eligible beginning the first month following 90 days of employment
