About the Role
Latavco Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Writer/Editor (Communications Specialist) for a contract opportunity in Houston, Texas. This role is ideal for a communications professional with strong writing, editing, and content development expertise who can create compelling content across multiple communication channels.
The successful candidate will support communication initiatives by developing high-quality content, maintaining brand consistency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful messaging.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development
- Write, edit, and proofread a variety of content including articles, press releases, blog posts, newsletters, reports, marketing materials, and social media content.
- Develop clear, engaging, and audience-focused communications.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality across all content.
Editorial & Brand Management
- Maintain a consistent brand voice across communication channels.
- Review content for grammar, style, tone, clarity, and compliance with brand guidelines.
- Ensure editorial standards are maintained across all communications.
Collaboration & Communications
- Partner with marketing, public relations, design, and leadership teams to develop communication materials.
- Support internal and external communication initiatives.
- Contribute to content planning and communication strategies.
Research & Content Strategy
- Research industry trends and relevant topics.
- Translate complex information into clear and engaging content.
- Manage content calendars and ensure timely project completion.
- Support content optimization and audience engagement efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in writing, editing, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong command of English grammar, style, and usage.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS).
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and content optimization techniques.
- Experience using AP Style guidelines.
