About the Role
The Process Engineer I applies engineering principles to develop, improve, and support semiconductor manufacturing processes and equipment. This role collaborates with customers, sales teams, service engineers, and internal technology groups to perform process demonstrations, provide technical support, develop process solutions, and contribute to product innovation. The position combines laboratory work, customer interaction, and engineering analysis in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.
Location: Boise, Idaho, United States (Remote with significant travel and cleanroom work)
Responsibilities
Process Engineering & Development
- Apply engineering principles to develop and improve manufacturing processes.
- Support the design, testing, and optimization of process technologies.
- Participate in prototype development and product improvement initiatives.
- Analyze engineering challenges and develop effective technical solutions.
- Support engineering projects of moderate complexity.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and junior engineers when required.
Customer & Technical Support
- Present EVG technologies to prospective customers.
- Organize and conduct equipment and process demonstrations.
- Provide remote and on-site process support to customers.
- Collaborate with sales and service teams to resolve technical issues.
- Deliver technical recommendations based on customer requirements.
- Build strong technical relationships with customers and business partners.
Project Execution & Documentation
- Organize and perform contract engineering services for customers.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and engineering documentation.
- Document process results, findings, and recommendations.
- Monitor project progress and support engineering deliverables.
- Ensure project activities meet established quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering projects.
Laboratory & Equipment Management
- Maintain laboratory equipment and cleanroom facilities.
- Ensure compliance with cleanroom procedures and laboratory standards.
- Monitor inventory of laboratory consumables and coordinate replenishment.
- Support equipment maintenance and operational readiness.
- Ensure OSHA and laboratory safety compliance.
- Follow departmental policies and operational procedures.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Learn and implement departmental policies and best practices.
- Support continuous improvement of engineering processes.
- Communicate technical information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Travel domestically and internationally to support customer projects.
- Perform additional engineering responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
- Up to two years of process engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and process development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and technical communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to work in cleanroom environments.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities required in laboratory and cleanroom environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Experience performing customer demonstrations and technical presentations.
- Knowledge of cleanroom operations and laboratory safety standards.
- Experience working with process development or manufacturing equipment.
