About the Role
The Financial Analyst I supports the Clinical Research Support (CRS) team by managing the financial operations of clinical trials within the oncology portfolio. This role is responsible for post-award financial management, sponsor invoicing, budget tracking, financial reporting, billing coordination, and ensuring compliance with clinical trial agreements while collaborating with research teams and operational stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Trial Financial Management
- Manage post-award financial activities for assigned clinical trial portfolios.
- Ensure study budgets are accurately entered into the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
- Review Clinical Trial Agreements (CTAs) to verify financial terms and budgets.
- Coordinate financial planning for sponsor invoicing activities.
- Monitor study budgets to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Support financial management throughout the clinical trial lifecycle.
- Sponsor Invoicing & Revenue Management
- Generate timely and accurate sponsor invoices.
- Track sponsor payments and study-related revenue.
- Verify invoicing aligns with contractual payment terms.
- Maintain accurate financial records for each assigned study.
- Resolve invoicing discrepancies through collaboration with stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate reporting of study receipts and financial activity.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze financial data and prepare study-related reports.
- Produce financial summaries for managers and research leadership.
- Perform quality control checks to identify financial issues early.
- Track financial performance against study budgets.
- Maintain reporting accuracy using financial management tools.
- Document process improvements and lessons learned.
- Billing & Financial Coordination
- Review Epic billing records and study-related invoices.
- Utilize CTMS and financial systems to validate study charges.
- Coordinate with Clinical Research Coordinators to resolve workflow issues.
- Work with billing departments to address billing discrepancies.
- Review invoices from shared service departments for accuracy.
- Ensure financial transactions comply with organizational procedures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Clinical Research Coordinators, Principal Investigators, and research teams.
- Collaborate with startup teams to understand study budgets and payment terms.
- Support financial processes across multiple clinical research projects.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within financial operations.
- Support mission-critical oncology clinical trial programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two years of clinical trial and/or financial operations experience.
Required Skills
