About the Role
The Director of Business Analytics and Operations provides strategic leadership for Webster University's philanthropic data infrastructure, CRM operations, business analytics, reporting, and database services. The role ensures donor and fundraising data remains accurate, secure, and actionable while supporting institutional fundraising goals and comprehensive campaign initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Community Resource Development, the Director leads business analytics and database operations, supervises technical staff, develops reporting strategies, maintains CRM systems, and partners with fundraising leadership to transform philanthropic data into meaningful insights that improve donor engagement and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and oversee business analytics strategies supporting fundraising and donor engagement.
- Design and deliver executive reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.
- Transform donor and campaign data into actionable business insights.
- Support campaign planning through analytical reporting.
- Monitor fundraising performance and recommend improvements.
CRM Leadership
- Serve as the institutional lead for the philanthropic CRM platform (Jenzabar).
- Optimize CRM functionality, reporting architecture, and workflows.
- Establish CRM governance standards and best practices.
- Ensure CRM data supports fundraising strategy and operational decision-making.
- Maintain system integrity and user effectiveness.
Database Management
- Oversee donor database administration and maintenance.
- Manage donor records, gift processing, pledges, and stewardship documentation.
- Ensure accurate donor information and timely database updates.
- Develop quality control procedures for database operations.
- Maintain reliable reporting and operational services.
Operational Leadership
- Lead business analytics and database services teams.
- Establish operational goals and performance standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented work environment.
- Improve operational efficiency through process optimization.
Data Governance
- Maintain the integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and security of donor data.
- Develop data governance policies and operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and reporting requirements.
- Protect sensitive philanthropic information.
Gift Administration
- Oversee gift administration processes and reporting.
- Support stewardship documentation and donor recognition activities.
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of gifts and philanthropic transactions.
- Maintain fundraising operational excellence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Finance, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, and university leadership.
- Support fundraising teams with data analysis and operational guidance.
- Collaborate on institutional planning and campaign initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for reporting and analytics needs.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and reporting capabilities.
- Enhance operational efficiency through automation and best practices.
- Improve reporting accuracy and service delivery.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across Community Resource Development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in:
- Philanthropic operations
- Advancement services
- Fundraising database management
- Business analytics
- Higher education or nonprofit operations
- Experience administering philanthropic CRM platforms such as:
- Jenzabar
- Raiser's Edge
- RENXT
- Salesforce
- Similar CRM systems
- Experience creating analytical reports supporting fundraising and campaign strategies.
- Previous experience leading teams and supervising staff.
- Strong understanding of donor database management and gift administration.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to maintaining data integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting university advancement or nonprofit fundraising operations.

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary: $75,000 – $90,000.
