About the Role
Taylor Morrison is seeking a Staff Accountant, Corporate to join its Corporate Accounting team in Scottsdale, Arizona. In this role, you will support the preparation of consolidated financial statements, maintain accurate financial records, perform account reconciliations, and assist with SEC reporting and internal controls. This position is ideal for accounting professionals with public accounting or corporate accounting experience who are passionate about financial reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet and bank account reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset records for corporate entities.
- Assist in drafting Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) and financial statement footnote disclosures.
- Ensure financial reporting complies with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Research emerging accounting standards and prepare supporting documentation.
- Analyze and reconcile corporate and consolidated accounts.
- Support the maintenance of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation.
- Assist external auditors during audits and quarterly reviews.
- Participate in special projects, accounting process improvements, and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in public accounting or corporate accounting.
- CPA certification or active CPA candidate preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting regulations.
- Experience performing technical accounting research and preparing accounting documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
