What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Top Stack?
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and a desire to grow within the field.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Perform account reconciliations (bank, credit card, general ledger)
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Assist in preparing financial statements and reports
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Help identify opportunities for process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (internships count!)
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Exposure to and working knowledge of SOX compliance
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
