Staff Accountant Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Perform bank, account, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Analyze financial data and investigate account discrepancies.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
- Prepare schedules and documentation for audits.
- Assist with financial reporting and management reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2 years of accounting experience.
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Public accounting experience a plus.
- CPA designation or CPA-track preferred.
