Position Summary
Titan America is seeking a highly capable Corporate Mining Engineer to support and optimize mining operations across our cement and aggregates network along the Eastern Seaboard. Based at our Roanoke, Virginia office and operating as a key member of our Corporate Engineering Division, this role combines deep technical mining expertise with a forward-looking focus on resource development, exploration, and business growth.
The successful candidate will serve as a strategic partner to operations and commercial leadership—driving efficient, compliant, and sustainable extraction practices while identifying and advancing new resource opportunities that support long-term growth. The role also provides leadership and direction to a small, high-impact team of mining engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and guidance for quarry and mining operations across multiple sites, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction practices
- Lead and support geological modeling, mine planning, and reserve estimation to optimize resource utilization and extend mine life
- Partner with operations teams to improve drilling, blasting, and material handling processes, driving productivity and cost improvements
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local mining regulations, including MSHA standards and environmental requirements
- Support capital planning efforts, including evaluation of mining equipment, infrastructure, and long-term site development plans
- Drive mining exploration initiatives, including site identification, feasibility studies, and due diligence for greenfield and brownfield opportunities
- Partner with business development and commercial teams to assess new market opportunities, acquisitions, and resource expansion projects
- Lead technical due diligence for M&A activities, including reserve validation, mine planning assessments, and operational risk evaluation
- Support integration of newly acquired mining assets into Titan America’s operating and compliance framework
- Collaborate with environmental, engineering, and sustainability teams to advance alternative fuels usage, land stewardship, and reclamation planning
- Leverage drone technology for site surveying, mapping, and volumetric analysis to enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3–5 mining engineers, ensuring strong technical execution and professional growth
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
- FAA Part 107 drone pilot certification preferred, with expectation to obtain
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in mining engineering within cement, aggregates, or heavy materials industries
- Strong background in mine planning, geology, drilling and blasting, and quarry operations
- Demonstrated experience in mining exploration, reserve development, and resource modeling
- Experience supporting mineral reserves and resources reporting for a public company environment preferred
- Exposure to business development, M&A due diligence, or strategic resource planning strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and environmental compliance standards
- Experience with mining software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac, MineSight, or similar)
- Proven ability to operate effectively across multiple sites and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
