What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Mechanical Engineer position at Tier 1 Consulting, Inc.?
Compensation: $125,000 - $135,000 per year
Experience Level: 7-12 years
On behalf of our VIP client, a respected leader in American industrial manufacturing, Tier 1 Consulting is seeking a hands-on Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead a dedicated team of engineers and designers.
The Opportunity
Are you an engineering leader who still loves the mechanics of design? Do you thrive in a true manufacturing environment where you can see the products you build come to life on the floor?
We are partnering with a stable, privately-owned manufacturing company in the Stone Mountain/Clarkston area to find a Mechanical Engineering Manager who leads from the front. This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk managing spreadsheets all day. We need an engaged, hands-on leader who understands the mechanics of design engineering, knows how to build around sheet metal and steel tools, and can actively mentor a team of mechanical engineers.
If you are tired of corporate bureaucracy and want to make a tangible impact in a facility where your engineering expertise directly drives production, this is your next career move.
What You Will Do
- Lead from the Front: Provide active, engaged leadership to a team of mechanical engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative environment where technical excellence is the standard.
- Drive Product Design: Oversee the execution of complex engineering projects from concept through production, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and built to exact quality standards.
- Bridge Design and Manufacturing: Utilize your deep understanding of manufacturing processes, sheet metal, and steel tooling to ensure that engineering designs translate seamlessly to the production floor.
- Mentor and Develop: Serve as the technical authority for the department, providing hands-on guidance, troubleshooting roadblocks, and nurturing the professional growth of your team.
- Optimize Operations: Partner with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to continuously improve engineering processes, product design efficiency, and overall operational performance.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience: 7 to 12 years of hands-on engineering experience within a true manufacturing environment.
- Leadership: At least 3 years of proven experience directly managing and leading a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
- Technical Chops: A deep, practical understanding of mechanical design engineering, specifically working with sheet metal, steel tools, and heavy-duty manufacturing processes.
- Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's or Doctorate degrees are not required for this role).
- Location: Must reside within a 20-mile radius of the Scottdale/Clarkston, GA area and be comfortable working on-site in a manufacturing facility.
Why This Role?
This is a rare opportunity to join a profitable, privately-owned company that values stability, hard work, and American manufacturing. You will have the autonomy to lead your department, the resources to execute complex projects, and the satisfaction of seeing your team's designs built right in front of you.
Salary : $125,000 - $135,000
