Position Summary:
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, be able to multi-task across multiple assigned projects, manage unplanned events, and take advantage of opportunities and events to achieve results that exceed expectations. This individual must be able to communicate with team members, demonstrate problem solving skills, critical thinking and prudent decision- making skills.
1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.1. Confer with team members to forecast demand and support supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
1.2. Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes.
1.3. Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
1.4. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
1.5. Monitor and meet suppliers to discuss performance metrics, to provide performance feedback, or to discuss production forecasts or changes.
1.6. Execute activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving
1.7. Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow
1.8. Coordinate shipments and work with logistics providers to ensure cost‑effective and timely delivery.
1.9. Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, and quality assurance, to identify or qualify new suppliers
1.10. Provide cost data and support cost‑analysis activities as needed.
1.11. Act as an ERP purchasing module key user by maintaining accurate data and providing routine feedback to support system improvements.
2. Physical Requirements
2.1. Must be able to sit or stand and walk for extended periods of time.
2.2. Must be able to lift to 40 pounds.
3. Background/Experience
3.1. Production and Processing knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
3.2. Administration and Management knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
3.3. Transportation knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
3.4. English Language knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
3.5. Mathematics knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
3.6. Customer and Personal Service knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
3.7. Economics and Accounting knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
3.8. 3-5 years’ of purchasing or supply chain experience in a similar industry and commerce environment.
3.9. Academically qualified to bachelor’s degree level or equivalent.
4. Enabling characteristics & attributes
4.1. COMMUNICATION: The individual must have the ability to assist others in understanding complicated machining processes to increase quality and limit manufacturing issues.
4.2. MANAGEABILITY: The individual must have the ability to work productively with management.
4.3. ORGANIZATION: The individual must have an extremely strong ability to organize large amounts of detail and numerous, varied work responsibilities to meet work schedules as well as meet longer-term project deliverables. The individual must have the ability and the predilection to perform well in both a routine, detail mode and an abstract, collaborative mode on projects with others.
