Job Responsibilities
The Procurement Specialist conducts and enables routine procurement activities for the SC Department of Veterans' Affairs.
Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist:
- Performs entry-level or routine procurement duties.
- Reviews and examine documents to procure goods, services, and information technology by determining the best procurement method.
- Use solicitation process for the Department as required.
- Ensures all SC State procurement code requirements and Department policies and procedures are followed.
- Reviews purchase requisitions and apprise the requisitioner of items available through state contracts, other alternate potential suppliers, and Department contracts.
- Processes requisitions through all stages of the procurement.
- Provides assistance to Deputy Director of Procurement with market research, drafting documents, formatting documents, proofing documents, tracking procurements, and special projects assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the work experience.

Additional Requirements:
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Position may require overnight travel.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Veteran status is preferred but not required.
