Electrical CX Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery and commissioning of a hyperscale data center project in El Paso, Texas. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring all electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with project specifications, operational requirements, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities for electrical systems throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review design documents, commissioning plans, test procedures, and turnover packages for compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate pre-functional, functional, integrated systems testing (IST), and startup activities.
• Witness and document testing of electrical infrastructure including:
• Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems
• Switchgear
• UPS systems
• Generators
• Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Static Transfer Switches (STS)
• Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
• Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
• Busway systems
• Grounding and bonding systems
• Interface with equipment manufacturers and vendors during startup and commissioning activities.
• Track and manage commissioning issues through resolution.
• Review and validate test reports, commissioning documentation, and turnover packages.
• Support integrated systems testing to verify system functionality under normal and failure scenarios.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project safety standards and site procedures.
• Assist with operational readiness and final handover to facility operations teams.
• Maintain detailed records of commissioning progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred.
• 3 years of commissioning, testing, startup, field engineering, or mission critical experience.
• Experience working on data centers, mission critical facilities, power generation, utility infrastructure, or large industrial projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems from utility service entrance through critical load.
• Ability to read and interpret:
• Single-line diagrams
• Schematics
• Protection and control drawings
• Electrical specifications
• Knowledge of commissioning processes and industry standards.
• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NETA, and OSHA requirements.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience commissioning hyperscale or colocation data centers.
• NETA certification (Level II-IV) preferred.
• Commissioning certifications such as ACG, BCxA, or equivalent.
• Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Knowledge of electrical protection coordination and relay testing.
• Experience with SCADA, EPMS, BMS, and monitoring systems.
• OSHA 30 certification.
