We are seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the delivery and commissioning of a hyperscale data center project in El Paso, Texas. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring all electrical systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with project specifications, operational requirements, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities for electrical systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review design documents, commissioning plans, test procedures, and turnover packages for compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate pre-functional, functional, integrated systems testing (IST), and startup activities.
- Witness and document testing of electrical infrastructure including:
- Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems
- Switchgear
- UPS systems
- Generators
- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Static Transfer Switches (STS)
- Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
- Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
- Busway systems
- Grounding and bonding systems
- Interface with equipment manufacturers and vendors during startup and commissioning activities.
- Track and manage commissioning issues through resolution.
- Review and validate test reports, commissioning documentation, and turnover packages.
- Support integrated systems testing to verify system functionality under normal and failure scenarios.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project safety standards and site procedures.
- Assist with operational readiness and final handover to facility operations teams.
- Maintain detailed records of commissioning progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred.
- 3 years of commissioning, testing, startup, field engineering, or mission critical experience.
- Experience working on data centers, mission critical facilities, power generation, utility infrastructure, or large industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems from utility service entrance through critical load.
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Single-line diagrams
- Schematics
- Protection and control drawings
- Electrical specifications
- Knowledge of commissioning processes and industry standards.
- Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, IEEE, NETA, and OSHA requirements.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience commissioning hyperscale or colocation data centers.
- NETA certification (Level II-IV) preferred.
- Commissioning certifications such as ACG, BCxA, or equivalent.
- Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Knowledge of electrical protection coordination and relay testing.
- Experience with SCADA, EPMS, BMS, and monitoring systems.
- OSHA 30 certification.
Salary : $110,000 - $130,000
