Job Description:
A successful candidate will be a self-guided individual responsible for creating models and drawings of machined parts, mechanical assemblies, and electromechanical assemblies. The position calls for the use of Dassault Systems Catia v5. A drafter coordinates with and consults Engineers and peer drafters regarding the layout of components and systems. A drafter also prepares illustrations for technical manuals to show parts breakdown, modifies and revises designs to correct deficiencies and production problems, and creates and maintains project scorecards to provide visibility of progress.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Knowledge
Associate of Science (AS) or Technical School degree/certificate in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Drafting or equivalent.
Familiarity with machining and production of aerospace parts (preferred).
Mechanical drafting, Catia modeling.
Extensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Skills and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Ability to create a functional part or assembly given a list of structural, mechanical, or electrical requirements.
Ability to connect sub-component levels to higher-level assemblies to form complete assemblies.
Ability to create geometric constructions, backgrounds, and working sheets.
Ability to create a complete drawing of a part or assembly given a list of specifications and tolerance requirements.
3D modeling experience, particularly in drafting and designing of gears, cams, shafts, manifolds, and other mechanical equipment.
Experience maintaining and updating drawings per engineering direction.
Experience creating and validating Bills of Materials (BOMs) on new drawings.
Experience with technical writing and reporting.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to be flexible and to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the company.
Enthusiasm in pursuing a project, task, subject, or activity.
Ability to listen, write, and speak to convey information effectively.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and work assignments.
Ability to be a flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring effective prioritization and juggling of multiple concurrent projects.

Experience
5 years in drafting/designer support role
Design and Product Implementation experience
Prior work experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
