MISSION
The Assistant Designer, Special Projects will partner closely with the Design Director, Special Projects & Eyewear to lead the design and development of innovative products, packaging, and brand initiatives from concept through production. This role requires a highly organized, self-motivated designer who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate with global partners and factories, and deliver creative solutions within demanding timelines and budgets.
THE ROLE
- Support multiple product development projects across various categories, helping to manage both short-lead and long-lead timelines.
- Assist in the design and development process from concept through final production.
- Research and develop product, packaging, color, material, and branding concepts that align with project objectives.
- Create mood boards, concept presentations, and design inspiration materials to communicate creative direction.
- Prepare technical drawings, product specifications, BOMs, and development documentation.
- Communicate with suppliers, manufacturers, and development partners throughout the product development process.
- Support prototype development, sampling, testing, and product refinements.
- Assist in the creation and review of physical and digital 3D models and prototypes.
- Help identify development challenges and contribute creative solutions that meet timeline and budget requirements.
- Prepare project presentations, design reviews, and status updates for internal teams.
- Maintain project calendars, development trackers, sample inventories, and team reference materials.
- Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, Merchandising, Marketing, Sales, and external partners to support successful project execution.
SKILLS
- 1-3 years of experience in product design, industrial design, packaging design, or product development.
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Product Development, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel.
- Experience with 3D design software such as Shapr3D, Blender, Autodesk products, or similar programs.
- Understanding of product development, packaging, prototype creation, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to create presentations, mood boards, technical drawings, and development documents.
- Fluency in English required; Italian and/or Mandarin Chinese are a strong plus.
