Job Description:
The Instrumentation Engineering Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and application of sensors to test hardware, as well as the setup and operation of measurement and recording systems. This role supports engineering and testing activities by ensuring accurate data collection and reliable instrumentation performance.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and install sensors on test hardware, including routing leads and terminating connections
- Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain measurement and recording systems
- Work with a variety of sensors including: Strain gages, Pressure transducers, and tubing Accelerometers, Thermal paints and crystals, Tip clearance and blade timing systems, Aerothermodynamic probes and rakes, Signal transmission systems (e.g., slip rings, telemetry)
- Develop and improve sensor application techniques
- Design and fabricate simple fixtures and test apparatus
- Support engine assembly and testing, including troubleshooting instrumentation systems
- Manage inventory and chemical handling as required
- Provide engineering support by coordinating on installation plans and routing strategies
- Document processes and write procedures to improve efficiency and capture lessons learned
- Train and mentor less experienced technicians
- Work independently or collaboratively depending on task scope and complexity
- Travel up to 15% for off-site testing and instrumentation support
Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in a relevant technical field (electronics, mechanical processing, aerospace or related environment)
- Hands-on technician experience with the ability to contribute immediately in a professional work environment
- Experience beyond basic technician duties with increased responsibility
