What You’ll Do
As the Volunteer and Events Coordinator, you will manage volunteer engagement and lead the planning of impactful events that support The WRK Group’s mission. You’ll also collaborate with staff and partners to create meaningful experiences that strengthen community connections.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and recommend volunteer opportunities for corporate and community partnerships.
- Lead and execute all volunteer efforts for events and activities to aid in the promotion of The WRK Group’s mission and vision to funders, stakeholders, partner organizations, and the community.
- In collaboration with the Development Team, build the overall volunteer experience by facilitating volunteer orientations and Volunteer Appreciation Event for Community & Corporate information sessions.
- Plan, lead, and execute a variety of events, including program and product launches and community outreach programs.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including videographers, photographers, and talent, to achieve project goals, developing impactful storytelling strategies.
- Supervise volunteers during their activities, providing guidance and addressing any issues that may arise.
- Provide regular reports and insights to evaluate the success of initiatives and recommend improvements.
- Evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of volunteer activities (via surveys, follow-up, and/or other metrics).
- Conceptualize, develop, and share content across various channels, including digital, print, and social media, to promote products, services, or brand initiatives and engage the target audience.
- Develop and manage budgets for marketing campaigns and events, ensuring cost-effectiveness and ROI.
- Track expenses, reconcile invoices, and provide regular reports on budget status.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the customer (including WRK Group employees, residents, and other stakeholders) experience and the overall efficiency of event execution.
- Be culturally sensitive and open to constructive feedback. Be a team player, adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility as workstreams shift.
What We’re Looking For
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Preferred) from an accredited college or university which has equipped applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
- A minimum of two years of experience in Marketing, Development or Project Planning. Experience in management, non-profits, and event curation and coordination.
- Experience using project management tools such as Airtable, Asana, or Trello is preferred.
Certification Requirements
- Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA) is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and details simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage diverse community members, volunteers, and partners.
- Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and designing impactful volunteer and event experiences.
- Ability to lead and motivate teams of volunteers, interns, and support staff.
- Comfortable collaborating across departments and working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Skilled in problem-solving and adaptable when navigating shifting priorities or event needs.
- Familiarity with project management and event planning best practices.
- Proficient in using digital tools to coordinate events and volunteer efforts.
Supervisory Responsibility
While this position does not manage direct reports, it does involve coordinating and overseeing volunteers.
Work Environment and Requirements
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (occasional evenings or weekends for special events).
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Physical Demands
The role requires mobility, physical activity, and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs, with exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, varying noise levels, and weather conditions.
