What You’ll Do
As the Accountant, you will lead the day-to-day accounting operations across the WRK Group’s central hub and three partner organizations. You’ll manage general ledger activities, month-end closings, financial reporting, and audit preparation assuring our financial systems are compliant, transparent, and aligned with nonprofit best practices. This role works closely with the Finance Manager, CFO, and broader team to drive financial strategy and accountability.

Work Environment And Requirements
Schedule: Full-Time, Exempt. Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required based on deadlines or audit needs.
Travel: Primarily local during the business day, with some out-of-area or overnight travel as needed.
Physical Demands: Work is performed in an office. The incumbent sits, stands, walks, kneels, crouches, twists, climbs stairs and inclines, reaches, bends, grasps, pushes, pulls, and drags. The incumbent must be able to move about to access files, operate equipment and office machinery, and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

What You’ll Do
As the Accountant, you will lead the day-to-day accounting operations across the WRK Group’s central hub and three partner organizations. You’ll manage general ledger activities, month-end closings, financial reporting, and audit preparation assuring our financial systems are compliant, transparent, and aligned with nonprofit best practices. This role works closely with the Finance Manager, CFO, and broader team to drive financial strategy and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounting across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and draft financials.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet accounts, and investments.
- Assist in developing budgets and forecasts in collaboration with leadership.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee intercompany transactions and prepare consolidated reports.
- Ensure payroll data is accurate and reconciled; support compliance with internal policies.
- Serve as a key contact for external audits; help maintain accounting policies and internal controls.
- Mentor and support the Payroll/Benefits Specialist.
- Partner with program teams to support budget ownership and fiscal accountability.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in accounting, with a strong grasp of core financial principles and practices.
- Experience in web version of QuickBooks (required).
- Nonprofit accounting experience with consolidated reporting is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and audit processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain financials to non-financial stakeholders
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines
- High level of integrity and professionalism when working with sensitive information
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work independently when needed

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
