POSITION SUMMARY
The Transportation Coordinator oversees the planning, coordination, and daily execution of transportation services that support resident care, essential appointments, and approved community needs. This role ensures transportation operations are safe, reliable, and compliant while maintaining efficient scheduling, fleet readiness, and driver accountability.
This is a hands-on operational role responsible for both coordination and direct service delivery when needed to maintain continuity of care. The Transportation Coordinator owns transportation logistics – not resident programming – and serves as the central point of accountability for transportation reliability and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transportation Operations and Service Reliability
Objective: Ensure timely, accurate, and resident-centered transportation delivery aligned with operational priorities.
- Manage centralized scheduling and prioritization of transportation requests
- Confirm trip logistics and adjust plans as operational needs change
- Maintain accurate transportation documentation and trip records
- Provide direct driving coverage when necessary to prevent service disruption
- Participate in on-call support to maintain continuity of transportation services
Fleet Readiness and Safety Oversight
Objective: Maintain vehicle availability, safety, and compliance to support uninterrupted transportation operations.
- Monitor vehicle readiness, cleanliness, and fueling standards
- Coordinate preventative maintenance with Plant Operations
- Maintain required vehicle documentation and inspection records
- Report and escalate safety concerns immediately
- Manage vehicle keys and operational accountability
Driver Compliance and Operational Support
Objective: Promote safe driving practices and regulatory compliance across transportation staff.
- Support onboarding coordination and driver readiness verification
- Maintain eligibility documentation, including MVR records
- Ability and willingness to operate a 15 passenger bus and all accompanying features.
- Reinforce transportation safety standards and procedures
- Assist with incident documentation and follow-up
Interdepartmental Coordination
Objective: Ensure transportation logistics are effectively coordinated across departments to support safe and reliable service delivery.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for approved medical appointments and community needs
- Prioritize scheduling to align with resident safety and operational requirements
- Communicate transportation availability and constraints to departments
- Collaborate with staffing partners to maintain service coverage
- Maintain focus on logistics execution rather than resident programming
Work Schedule Expectations
- Primarily weekdays, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Evening and weekend flexibility as operational needs require
- Participation in on-call rotation

Educational Requirements and Experience:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a 10-year MVR review
- Scheduling or logistics coordination experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Adaptability and sound judgment
Preferred:
- Senior living or healthcare experience
- Staff training or supervisory exposure
- Familiarity with accessible vehicle operation
