Position Summary
The Lifestyles Assistant plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, engaging, and vibrant Independent Living community by building meaningful relationships with residents and helping deliver exceptional daily programs, events, and experiences. Working closely with the Director of Lifestyles and Lifestyles Coordinator, this position provides hands-on support for resident engagement, hospitality, and department operations while helping create an environment where residents feel connected, valued, and encouraged to participate in community life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Resident Engagement & Hospitality
Build meaningful relationships with residents while creating a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Encourage resident participation by promoting programs, activities, and special events in a positive and engaging manner.
Deliver exceptional hospitality by treating every resident, family member, guest, volunteer, and team member with courtesy, respect, and professionalism.
Help create memorable daily experiences that contribute to residents’ overall quality of life and sense of belonging.
Program & Event Support
Assist with the preparation, setup, execution, and breakdown of daily programs, special events, outings, and community celebrations.
Prepare activity materials, room arrangements, decorations, refreshments, and equipment necessary for successful events.
Support resident outings and transportation activities as assigned.
Help ensure programs are organized, welcoming, safe, and enjoyable for all participants.
Department Operations & Support
Maintain organized activity supplies, equipment, decorations, and storage areas.
Assist the Lifestyles Coordinator with event preparation, administrative tasks, and other operational support as assigned.
Support seasonal decorating and department projects throughout the community.
Assist in maintaining attractive, clean, and organized activity spaces that reflect The Woodlands’ commitment to excellence.
Teamwork & Professionalism
Work collaboratively with all departments to support a vibrant resident experience throughout the community.
Support volunteers during activities and special events.
Demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and a willingness to assist wherever needed to ensure exceptional resident service.
Participate in department meetings, required training, and organizational initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission of the IL Lifestyles Department and The Woodlands.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, recreation, event support, senior living, or a related field preferred.
Passion for serving older adults and creating meaningful relationships.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Positive attitude, enthusiasm, creativity, and a genuine desire to enhance the lives of others.
Basic computer skills and willingness to learn departmental software.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record may be required for resident outings.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and participation in resident activities and events. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and assist with event setup and breakdown. Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required to support resident programming.
