Position Title: Front of House Restaurant Supervisor
Location: Gabriel Archer Tavern at The Williamsburg Winery
Reports To: Director of Food & Beverage (Jackie)
Position Summary
The Front of House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily front-of-house operations at Gabriel Archer Tavern, a full-service restaurant located at The Williamsburg Winery. This role ensures exceptional guest service, efficient service execution, and adherence to company standards across all FOH functions.
The Supervisor will lead and support service staff, maintain operational consistency, and act as the primary point of contact during service while reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service Management
- Oversee all front-of-house operations during service (host stand, servers, bartenders, support staff)
- Ensure a seamless and elevated guest experience from arrival through departure
- Monitor dining room flow, table turns, and reservation pacing
- Act as manager-on-duty for FOH during assigned shifts
Staff Leadership & Development
- Supervise, train, and coach FOH team members
- Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily service priorities
- Enforce service standards, policies, and procedures
- Assist with onboarding and ongoing training of new hires
Guest Experience
- Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Maintain high standards of hospitality aligned with winery and brand expectations
- Engage with guests to enhance overall dining experience
Administrative & Compliance
- Support scheduling and staffing levels based on business needs
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and alcohol service regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all FOH areas
- Assist with inventory oversight for FOH-related supplies (menus, linens, etc.)
Collaboration
- Work closely with kitchen leadership to ensure smooth service execution
- Coordinate with events and winery teams as needed for private events and high-volume days
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a full-service restaurant in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong knowledge of restaurant operations and service standards
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to remain composed and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in upscale or hospitality-driven environments
- Knowledge of wine service and pairings
- Familiarity with the Square POS system and Open Table reservation platform
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed
- Comfortable working in a high-volume service environment
