The Staff Pad has partnered with a growing organization to identify an experienced Controller to lead and oversee all core accounting and financial operations. This role is critical in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight across the business. The Controller will serve as a key partner to executive leadership while managing day-to-day accounting functions and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job costing
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses to leadership
- Develop and manage annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts
- Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions
- Oversee job cost accounting, including WIP schedules and project-level financial reporting
- Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and liquidity to support operational needs
- Identify and implement process improvements and financial systems enhancements
- Mentor and develop accounting team members
- Support project teams with financial modeling, bid analysis, and contract review
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a leadership or Controller role
- Strong background in construction accounting (job costing, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion) preferred
- Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP platforms (Procore a plus)
- Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate financial insights clearly
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to develop and manage a team
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
