Certification Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate — English Language Arts (6–12)
About Simple Vue Academy
Simple Vue Academy (SVA) is a tuition-free public charter school in Douglasville, Georgia, serving students in grades 6–12 through a bold focus on STREAM education, entrepreneurship, and student agency. Our work is rooted in the Ubuntu philosophy — I am because we are — and centers on preparing scholars not only for academic success, but for life.
At SVA, strong instruction is intentional, intellectually rigorous, and deeply planned. We are building a team of educators who believe teaching is a craft and who value intellectual preparation, professional accountability, and continuous growth.
Position Overview
The 6th–8th Grade English Language Arts Teacher at Simple Vue Academy will teach three sections spanning the full middle school experience. This is a unique opportunity to build coherent, vertically aligned literacy instruction — developing scholars from foundational middle school readers and writers in 6th grade through increasingly sophisticated, independent thinkers by 8th grade.
This role is more than teaching standards. It is about building scholar identity — helping students see themselves as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators with something powerful to say.
We are seeking a candidate who is:
- Certified in English Language Arts (6–12) in the state of Georgia
- Skilled in teaching reading, writing, language, and speaking/listening across the middle grades
- Able to build a coherent literacy arc across 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
- Committed to student voice as both a literacy skill and a cultural value
- Equipped to support a range of learners — from students reading below grade level to those ready for advanced literary analysis
- Deeply aligned with SVA's core values: Voice, Ubuntu, and Empowerment

Implement differentiated instruction to support diverse learners, including:
- Reading intervention supports and scaffolded access to complex texts
- Extension and enrichment for advanced readers and writers
- Multimodal approaches to engage varied learning styles
- Use formative, performance-based, and summative assessments to measure student mastery and drive instructional planning
Student Learning & Development
- Build a classroom culture that centers scholar voice — where students write with purpose, speak with confidence, and read with curiosity
- Support students' literacy identity and academic mindset through high expectations, celebration of growth, and consistent encouragement
- Connect ELA content to real-world contexts including entrepreneurship, current events, and community storytelling
- Integrate student voice projects, spoken word, journalism, or other authentic writing forms aligned to SVA's mission
