Position Overview
Our Mathematics Teacher at Simple Vue Academy is responsible for delivering standards-aligned, high-quality instruction that meets the needs of all learners in our upper middle school grades. This role carries particular importance as students prepare for high school mathematics and, for eligible scholars, end-of-grade assessments.
We are seeking a candidate who is:
- Certified in Mathematics (6–12) in the state of Georgia
- Skilled in teaching 8th grade math concepts including linear equations, functions, geometry, and statistics

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Design & Delivery
Plan and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned math instruction, including:
- Clear learning objectives and success criteria tied to Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE)
- Purposeful task selection aligned to rigor and Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels
- Anticipation of common misconceptions in algebraic reasoning, geometry, and data analysis
- Strategic questioning and embedded checks for understanding
- Prioritize conceptual understanding over rote memorization
- Implement instructional strategies for diverse learners including small group instruction, differentiation, scaffolding, and extension opportunities
- Use formative, performance-based, and summative assessment data to measure mastery and drive instructional decisions
Student Learning & Development
- Foster a classroom culture grounded in intellectual curiosity, academic discourse, and student ownership
- Support students' social-emotional and academic growth through clear routines, high expectations, and consistent encouragement
- Make meaningful connections between math content and real-world, entrepreneurship-driven contexts relevant to SVA scholars
Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Collaborate with colleagues to analyze student data, plan instruction, and align curriculum across grade levels
- Participate fully in professional development, PLCs, and coaching and feedback cycles
- Maintain accurate records related to instruction, assessments, and student progress
- Contribute positively to school culture and shared responsibility for student success
Required Qualifications
Certification & Education
- Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Mathematics (6–12)
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
Experience & Instructional Skill
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience preferred, with demonstrated success teaching middle or high school mathematics
- Strong content knowledge in 8th grade math: linear equations and systems, functions, congruence and similarity, the Pythagorean theorem, and statistics and probability
- Demonstrated ability to plan rigorous, standards-aligned lessons and use data to inform instruction
- Effective classroom management and the ability to build strong, structured learning environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with project-based or inquiry-based mathematics instruction
- Familiarity with STREAM integration and real-world math applications
- Culturally responsive teaching practices
- Comfort using technology to enhance instruction (Google Classroom, Desmos, Khan Academy, etc.)
- Experience working in innovative, startup, or charter school environments
