This role is responsible for managing guest flow, coordinating reservations, and creating a seamless arrival experience that reflects the luxury, hospitality, and sense of place unique to The Sea Pines Resort.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Greet all guests promptly with a warm, genuine, and professional demeanor, using guest names whenever possible
- Deliver a refined and personalized welcome aligned with Forbes Travel Guide standards
- Manage the host stand with poise and organization, ensuring a seamless arrival and departure experience
- Escort guests to tables while engaging in light, thoughtful conversation that enhances the guest experience
- Provide accurate wait times and proactively manage guest expectations
- Thank guests sincerely upon departure and invite them to return
- Manage reservations using OpenTable or designated POS/reservation system
- Strategically assign tables based on server sections, guest preferences, and operational flow
- Coordinate with management and service team to ensure efficient seating and pacing of the dining room
- Monitor table status and adjust seating plans dynamically to maintain service standards
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with servers, bartenders, and management
- Relay VIP notes, special occasions, dietary preferences, and guest requests to the service team
- Support front-of-house operations during peak service periods
- Demonstrate Graciousness, Thoughtfulness, and Sense of Personalized Service in all interactions
- Anticipate guest needs and offer proactive assistance (special occasions, seating preferences, etc.)
- Maintain polished verbal communication and professional etiquette at all times
- Ensure interactions are never transactional, but instead engaging and guest-focused
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing host stand and entrance area
- Ensure menus, reservation materials, and guest-facing items are in pristine condition
- Uphold personal grooming and uniform standards in accordance with resort guidelines
- Previous host or guest service experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- Indoor restaurant setting within a luxury resort environment
- Frequent interaction with guests and team members
- Exposure to varying levels of business volume, especially during peak seasons and events
