Title: Warehouse & Counter Sales Associate
General Summary:
This individual will perform all requirements of the assigned warehouse distribution department(s), which may include shipping, receiving, order picking, and inventory. In addition, the incumbent will process orders from walk-in customers by phone and e-mail as they gain the knowledge/skills/abilities of a Counter Sales Associate. The position will perform a dual role: Warehouse/Delivery Associate and Counter Sales Associate. Time in each functional area will depend on business needs.
Key responsibilities: While providing customer support as a Warehouse/Delivery Associate:
- Ensures verification occurs for all incoming and outgoing transactions.
- Receives material from vendors into the business system and maintains related records.
- Assists with inventory management, including cycle counts.
- Loads and unloads the delivery vehicle.
Key responsibilities: While providing sales and customer service support as a Counter Sales Associate:
- Responds to requests from customers for product, returns, and basic technical information.
- Enters customer order into the business system.
- Completes orders by filling, checking, and processing orders.
- Maintains a balanced cash drawer.
- Assists at will-call when needed.
Key Responsibilities in both roles:
- Maintains a neat & professional work area, including general housekeeping as needed.
- Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions product weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted when stocking, loading or unloading products. Typically bends, stoops, and/or crouches regularly from various heights to stock or deliver products to customers.
- Operates forklift: proper training and certification required. May also use material handling equipment (including pallet jack, dollies, & handcart).
- Assists with creating, implementing, and revising work procedures and instructions.
- Supports the implementation and processes of TWL (if applicable) and the quality program.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred: Two or more years’ working knowledge of products authorized to be distributed - typically obtained through working in warehouse operations or delivery.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with customers professionally.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, organizing, prioritizing, and completing tasks.
- Basic computer skills required.
