Title: Counter Sales Associate
Department: Front Counter
General Summary:
The primary responsibility of this employee is to process orders from walk-in customers, by phone, and by e-mail. Material is purchased on account, credit card, cash, and check.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enters customer order into the business system.
- Completes order by filling, checking and processing order.
- Maintains a balanced cash drawer.
- Provides customer with basic technical support.
- Handles incoming returns from customer and forwards to returns department.
- Assists in processing returns when requested by CSRM Processor, Operations Manager or Branch Manager.
- Re-stocks material that is not sold on a daily basis.
- Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions product weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted when stocking, loading or unloading products.
- Operates forklift: proper training and certification required. May also use material handling equipment (including pallet jack, dollies and handcart.
- Assists in maintaining a neat & professional counter area including general housekeeping as needed.
- Assists in daily warehouse operations when requested by leader/supervisor/manager.
- Makes urgent pick-ups and deliveries as directed by the Construction Sales Supervisor, Operations Manager or Branch Manager.
- Assists in creating, implementing and revising procedures and work instructions.
- Supports the quality initiatives set forth by the Region.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two or more years of work experience in warehouse operations preferred.
- Two or more years of working knowledge of internal operations and products authorized to be distributed preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with customers professionally.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, organizing, prioritizing, and completing tasks.
- Basic PC skills with MS Office products required.
