What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sous Chef position at The Restaurant Zone?
We’re partnering with a chef-driven, elevated dining concept to identify a Sous Chef who has been trained in Michelin-caliber kitchens and understands the discipline, precision, and intensity that comes with that level of execution.
This is not a role for someone still developing fundamentals. This is for a chef who has already operated in top-tier culinary environments and is ready to bring that standard into a growing, ambitious kitchen.
What You’ll Own
- Execute at a consistently high level across service—precision, timing, and plate integrity are non-negotiable
- Act as the right hand to the Executive Chef in daily kitchen leadership and service orchestration
- Uphold and enforce Michelin-level standards in technique, cleanliness, and consistency
- Lead, train, and hold line cooks accountable to fine dining execution standards
- Manage prep, ordering, inventory, and cost controls without compromising quality
- Step into leadership during service—expedite, troubleshoot, and maintain flow under pressure
What We’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- Proven experience in a Michelin-starred or Michelin-level kitchen
- Background in major culinary markets (NYC, Chicago, DC, San Francisco, or similar caliber cities)
- Strong foundation in classical and modern techniques
- Demonstrated ability to perform in high-expectation, high-volume fine dining environments
- Stable career progression—no pattern of short tenures
- Clear leadership presence—you’ve led teams, not just worked a station
