Bookkeeper – Construction & Project Accounting
An established construction firm specializing in high-end residential home building is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the company’s daily accounting operations and project financial tracking.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance
- Maintain accurate financial records for multiple construction projects, including tracking job costs and expenses
- Assist with preparation of AIA billing (cost-plus and stipulated sum contracts)
- Generate and update project cost reports to support project managers
- Track work-in-progress (WIP) and assist in monitoring project budgets and profitability
- Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Record intercompany transactions and maintain supporting documentation
- Process weekly payroll and assist with payroll tax filings and reconciliations
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in compliance with company policies
- Support external accountants by organizing documentation for financial statements, tax filings, and year-end reporting
- Maintain organized records and assist in improving accounting procedures and workflows
- Monitor accounts receivable, apply payments, and follow up on outstanding balances as needed
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting support experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
- Familiarity with construction accounting practices, including job costing and billing processes
- Experience with Sage or similar accounting software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- High attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
