THE PLASTEK GROUP is seeking great people for its Manufacturing Division located in Erie, PA. The Plastek Group is a multi-national custom plastics injection molder of consumer packaging for large companies such Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, Church & Dwight and many others. Shift: This is a 3rd shift position 11:30pm-8am Sunday night - Friday morning

Mold Technician Apprenticeship

Once hired and throughout the entirety of the program, an apprentice is a full-time paid employee who will produce high-quality work while learning and developing the required skillset to become a certified Mold Technician. This will be attained through on-the-job mentor led training, through in classroom technical training courses at local trade schools, and through online offerings. Competency checks are conducted throughout the program to ensure that apprentices are mastering the material and skills. The apprenticeship offers a state-recognized certification to be issued at the completion of the 2-3 year program. A Mold Tech Apprentice is mentored by other skilled workers. The mentorship aspect provides him/her with enhanced critical hands-on learning and industry-essential skills.

On the job training summary: Material Handler, Mold Set Up, Mold Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Basic and Advanced Molding Technician/Technical Services.

Course Work: OSHA 30, Plastic Materials, Core Math and Mold Design, Maintenance, Molding 1: Process Start Up and Troubleshooting Essentials, Quality Systems, Molding Math, Molding 2: Mechanics of Molding and Process Development.

The Apprentice programs start when the first class begins with a pay rate of $18.00 with regular increases. Raises are given based on attendance, performance reviews and grades upon completion of each level every 3 months.

These positions require a 5 year commitment to Plastek. Training and classes are 2-3 years then additionally work for us for at least 2 years after. You must be ok attending classes and obtain passing grades.

Applicants must be open to working any available shift. Shift preference cannot be guaranteed.
