What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Director, Financial Solutions position at The Planet Group?
****This is a 6 month CONTRACT to HIRE Opportunity****
Position: Senior Director, Financial Solutions
Location: New York, NY (Preferred - Hybrid) | Will consider Boston (Remote with travel to NYC) Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract-to-Hire (6 Months)
Sponsorship: Not available (US Citizens / Green Card Holders only)
The Mission
We are seeking a bilingual Finance-Technology leader who sits at the exact intersection of core enterprise accounting and cloud systems architecture. Most enterprise applications roles are filled by technical ticket-takers; this role requires a strategic operator who can debate ASC 606 revenue recognition or month-end close bottlenecks with the CFO, and then turn around and negotiate API payloads or data constraints with an enterprise integration team.
As the Senior Director, you will own the internal finance transformation roadmap, driving process simplification and optimization across a complex global Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP environment. You will be the strategic bridge ensuring that technology scales with financial operations, rather than forcing the business to adapt to rigid systems.
What You’ll Do Day-to-Day
- Lead Enterprise Transformation: Own financial systems strategy and optimization across core ledger and operational workflows, including GL, AP/AR, Cost Accounting, Revenue Recognition, and Order-to-Cash (O2C).
- Bridge the Finance/IT Divide: Translate complex accounting controls, audit readiness, and reporting requirements into scalable, functional ERP solutions.
- Challenge Legacy Friction: Diplomatically challenge legacy, highly customized processes and guide business stakeholders toward standardized, scalable future-state workflows.
- Partner Across the Lifecycle: Collaborate directly with architects, integration developers, and business stakeholders to design end-to-end solutions within an Oracle Fusion Cloud environment.
What You Bring (Must-Haves)
- 12 Years of Deep Domain Expertise: A proven track record leading large-scale ERP transformations, finance modernizations, or enterprise business technology initiatives.
- Strong Financial Foundations: Deep knowledge of accounting operations, financial close management, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Hands-on Oracle Fusion Cloud Ecosystem Knowledge: Direct experience navigating Oracle Fusion Financials modules, standard capabilities, and operational integration workflows.
- Executive Influence: The ability to operate credibly as a trusted advisor to C-suite financial stakeholders while maintaining a pragmatic understanding of system constraints.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in Publishing, Media, Wholesale, or highly integrated product distribution environments.
- Familiarity with complex supply chain finance and high-volume Order-to-Cash systems.
- Exposure to Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) or complex enterprise analytics platforms.
- CPA, MBA, or related enterprise transformation credentials.
Salary : $210,000 - $250,000
