About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join the IT team and play a key role in managing and improving the company's enterprise infrastructure. Reporting to the IT Manager, this position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and continuous improvement of critical IT systems across multiple locations. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, implementing new technologies, and supporting a modern manufacturing environment. The position is fully onsite with occasional travel to company locations throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, along with participation in after-hours support when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Windows servers, enterprise infrastructure, and core IT systems.
- Manage Microsoft 365 technologies, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Entra ID.
- Support virtualization platforms including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Monitor system performance, security, backups, and infrastructure health.
- Support manufacturing systems through installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificates, and access control.
- Research, recommend, and implement infrastructure improvements and new technologies.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and system procedures.
- Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams while providing technical guidance.
- Respond to critical system alerts and security incidents when necessary.
- Assist with enterprise IT projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10 years of progressive systems administration experience within a multi-site enterprise environment.
- Strong experience with:
- Microsoft 365
- Windows Server
- Active Directory
- Entra ID (Azure AD)
- DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- VMware and/or Hyper-V
- Email administration and security
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and systems administration best practices.
- Experience supporting manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, or ISC2 certifications are a plus.
- Interest in emerging technologies, including AI, is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform hardware installations.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to company facilities throughout North America.
- Ability to participate in after-hours and on-call support when required.
