Regional Director - Midwest/Great Lakes (Road Safety Solutions)
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) or Board of Directors Location: Regional / Multi-Region Oversight
Travel: Required across multiple regions up to 50%.
Position Summary
The Regional Director oversees multiple Regional Managers/ General Managers and Operating Companies (OpCos) across an assigned multi-region territory for a company that provides pavement marking, traffic control and other ancillary services. This executive role drives strategic alignment, overall financial results, safety leadership, and growth initiatives while serving as the key link between corporate executives and regional operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight
- Direct multiple Regional Managers/ General Managers to achieve enterprise-wide operational and financial goals.
- Develop and execute regional strategies for expansion, M&A, and market penetration.
- Align regional activities with corporate vision, including new OpCo acquisitions and integrations.
Financial Accountability
- Oversee consolidated regional P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and profitability across all OpCos.
- Ensure achievement of revenue growth, margin targets, and cost efficiencies at a regional scale.
- Lead financial reviews, job costing analysis, and corrective actions for underperformance.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor and enforce RSS Standard Operating Procedures across regions.
- Champion productivity improvements, fleet/equipment optimization, and supply chain coordination.
- Help support and coordinate resource sharing, scheduling, and project delivery for all RSS field operations.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Enforce enterprise-wide EHS standards, OSHA compliance, and safety culture especially in high-risk traffic environments.
- Collaborate with corporate Safety Director on audits, training, and incident response.
- Promote zero-incident goals and regulatory adherence across all sites.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Mentor Regional Managers and senior leaders; oversee recruitment, succession, and performance management.
- Foster accountability, team development, and leadership pipelines for sustained growth.
- Drive cultural alignment with corporate values.
Growth & Business Development
- Identify opportunities for operational synergies, new markets, and service line expansion.
- Support M&A due diligence, integrations, and strategic partnerships.
- Participate in executive planning, board reporting, and stakeholder communications.
Corporate Governance
- Serve as primary liaison between regions and corporate leadership.
- Ensure rollout of corporate initiatives, systems, and reporting standards.
- Represent the company in industry forums, client meetings, and regulatory discussions.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated P&L responsibility for multi-site or district-level operations.
- Proven track record in strategic growth, M&A, and team leadership.
