Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support procurement and supply chain operations within a highly regulated manufacturing environment. This role will focus on strategic sourcing, supplier management, purchasing, cost reduction, and material availability in support of complex manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong procurement experience within aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, or a similar regulated industry and understands the quality and compliance requirements associated with high-specification products and components.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage strategic sourcing and purchasing activities for materials, components, subassemblies, and engineered or build-to-specification items.
- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, technical capability, and compliance requirements.
- Develop sourcing strategies that improve supplier performance, reduce costs, and mitigate supply chain risk.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, terms, and commercial agreements.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives across assigned commodities and supplier categories.
- Manage RFQs, purchase orders, order tracking, supplier communication, and related procurement activities.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain teams to support material availability and production schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and address quality, delivery, cost, and service issues.
- Support inventory optimization while reducing excess, shortages, and obsolete material.
- Maintain accurate procurement, pricing, supplier, and purchasing documentation.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable aerospace and defense requirements, including FAR, DFARS, and ITAR.
- Support import/export and trade compliance activities as needed.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, supplier performance, and supply chain efficiency.
- Provide guidance and support to junior purchasing team members.
Qualifications
- 5 years of purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience, preferably within aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, or another highly regulated environment.
- Experience sourcing materials, components, subassemblies, and/or engineered products.
- Proven success in supplier negotiations, cost reduction, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management.
- Knowledge of aerospace and defense compliance requirements, including FAR, DFARS, and ITAR.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or comparable platforms.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Production, and other cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- APICS, ISM, CPSM, CPIM, or similar professional certification is a plus.
