Caseload: 40–50 students (final number confirmed during interview)
Reason for Need: Maternity leave coverage (start of school year → Christmas break → February break; may extend)
Licensure Requirements
The Social Worker collaborates with the multidisciplinary educational team and contributes to the development and implementation of individualized plans of care for students requiring social work intervention. The role supports students’ social‑emotional development, behavioral needs, and access to community resources while ensuring alignment with IEP goals and school‑based services.

- Must obtain RIDE School Social Worker Certification (or be willing to obtain) Experience Preferred: 1–2 years Work Type: Direct indirect hours included

The role supports students’ social‑emotional development, behavioral needs, and access to community resources while ensuring alignment with IEP goals and school‑based services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain appropriate rules, procedures, and therapeutic structure within the educational setting.
- Develop individualized service plans aligned with IEP goals using diagnostic information from multiple assessments.
- Utilize school, home, and community resources to support student needs and connect services.
- Transition students effectively between therapy, classroom settings, and external services.
- Collaborate with the educational team to prevent and address inappropriate behaviors while preserving student dignity.
- Provide positive reinforcement and therapeutic engagement strategies.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, and external professionals.
- Demonstrate understanding of child development and the impact of disabilities on students and families.
- Access and coordinate community, state, and national resources to support student safety and well‑being.
- Ensure safety and supervision of assigned students, support staff, interns, and volunteers during all school‑related activities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Professional Educator License with School Social Worker (SSW) endorsement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working collaboratively in student‑centered environments.
- Computer proficiency (documentation, communication, data systems).
- Ability to exchange information effectively with supervisors, colleagues, students, and families.
- Additional qualifications as required by the Governing Board.
Salary : $40 - $46
