Senior Cloud Operations Engineer
Location: Malvern, PA (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week)
Salary: $140,000 – $185,000 (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
This position reports to the SVP of Product Architecture and is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing an Azure-based SaaS platform. You’ll work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure the platform is performant, reliable, resilient, and scalable. The role combines hands-on cloud operations with a strong focus on automation, infrastructure-as-code, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor production systems for availability, performance, and reliability; implement logging and alerting.
- Manage Azure services: App Services, Function Apps, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Microsoft Entra ID, Application Gateway, Firewalls.
- Plan, build, and maintain real-time connections to customer data centers using VPN tunnels, VWAN, and Firewalls.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) for consistent deployments.
- Identify and resolve capacity, scaling, and performance bottlenecks.
- Design and support high availability, disaster recovery, and scaling strategies.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are production-ready.
- Execute recurring tasks: database setup, VPN configurations, IP whitelisting, SSL certificates, secret rotations.
- Manage SaaS platform operating costs and optimize for efficiency without sacrificing reliability.
Skills & Experience
- BA/BS Degree
- 5 years of hands-on experience with Azure (App Services, Function Apps, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Microsoft Entra ID, Application Gateway, Firewalls)
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics)
- Strong grasp of scaling, high availability, and performance tuning in cloud environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
