This position is responsible for providing high-level operational and clinical leadership to an 8-room Operating Room department featuring a diverse, high-volume case mix heavy in Robotics and a newly established Neuro Program. Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- Licensure: Current, active State of Texas RN license or an active Multi-State Compact RN license clear of any stipulations or disciplinary actions.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of professional nursing required at time of hire (Magnet campus standard).
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of direct operating room experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of current, dedicated OR management experience (defined strictly as Supervisor, Assistant Clinical Manager, Clinical Manager, or Director level).
- Certifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Resume Integrity: Must provide an updated chronological resume with precise, accurate job history dates and units worked.
- Specialty Knowledge: Prior hands-on OR experience within Robotics and Neuro surgical procedures.
- Certifications: Professional board certification in a clinical area (e.g., CNOR) or healthcare management.
- Skills: Exceptional cross-functional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Manages the 24/7 daily operations of the inpatient surgical suites, including forecasting/scheduling adequate staff, managing departmental calls, and serving as an active clinical resource or charge nurse as needed.
- Recruits, retains, and develops nursing and tech staff, providing timely performance feedback, mentoring less experienced personnel, and facilitating mandatory continuing education.
- Collaborates seamlessly with surgeons, anesthesia teams, materials management, and the executive leadership team to align daily operations with strategic hospital initiatives.
- Participates actively in systematic, interdisciplinary process improvement (PI) projects to elevate patient safety, cost containment, and supply-chain efficiency.
- Adheres strictly to all regulatory frameworks, including Texas Board of Nursing standards and national hospital safety codes.
