Role Summary
We are seeking a Cash Audit Specialist to support daily cash reconciliation, exception handling, and month end close activities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial accuracy by identifying discrepancies between internal systems, bank activity, and the general ledger.
You will work with large datasets, investigate variances, and partner with internal teams to resolve issues related to deposits, disbursements, and transactional activity. This role offers exposure to core accounting processes, treasury interactions, and audit functions within a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Investigate daily exception items related to deposits and disbursements across multiple locations
• Reconcile bank accounts, system data, and general ledger balances to ensure accuracy
• Identify and escalate discrepancies including potential fraud or unusual activity
• Perform month end close activities including reconciliations and journal entries
• Analyze large data sets using Excel to identify trends and inconsistencies
• Communicate with internal teams and field locations to resolve transactional discrepancies
• Prepare reports on trends such as delayed deposits or irregular transaction activity
• Support treasury and audit teams with data and research as needed
Key Requirements
• 2 plus years of experience in accounting, cash reconciliation, or bookkeeping
• Strong Excel skills including data filtering, manipulation, and working with large datasets
• Solid understanding of debits and credits and how accounts function within financial statements
• Experience performing reconciliations, journal entries, and month end close processes
• Strong analytical skills with ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Reliable work ethic with consistent attendance and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with cash applications or retail accounting environments
• Exposure to reconciliation tools such as ReconNet
• Proven stability in previous roles
• Experience working with multi location or high volume transaction environments
