Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Traveling Low Voltage Technician to join our team and deliver exceptional service across multiple locations. Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair low voltage systems including CCTV cameras, fiber optic cabling, Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and VoIP telephony solutions.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately execute installations and repairs.
- Perform fiber splicing and cabling tasks using power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment to ensure optimal connectivity.
- Conduct network installation activities such as setting up LANs (Local Area Networks), configuring switches, routers (including Cisco and Juniper), and ensuring proper integration with existing systems.
- Test electrical circuits using tools like ohmmeters to verify system integrity and troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including shift reports, incident logs, and system configurations.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system functions, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or in a related field involving low voltage systems such as CCTV, telephony (including Avaya systems), fiber optics, or network infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet cabling (Cat5/Cat6), schematics interpretation, LAN/WAN configurations, and telecommunication standards (NEC).
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing techniques and the use of power tools and hand tools for precise installation work.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, VoIP systems like Avaya or similar platforms.
- Electrical experience related to low voltage wiring standards and safety protocols.
- Ability to read technical schematics accurately and troubleshoot electrical or network issues efficiently.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Willingness to travel frequently across different job sites while maintaining safety standards.
