Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and workpapers for all assigned properties.
- Provide leadership, review, and mentorship to a team of property accountants (including senior-level staff) to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Collaborate closely with property management and operations teams to align financial reporting with portfolio performance and company goals.
- Lead monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Assist with budget preparation, reforecasts, and property-level financial analysis.
- Enhance accounting processes, controls, and systems to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Ensure full compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and reporting deadlines.
- Partner cross-functionally with other departments to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Support annual audit requests and other external reporting requirements related to property financials.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track preferred).
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, specifically within real estate or property management.
- Strong knowledge of property-level accounting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
- Proven experience supervising, reviewing, and mentoring accounting staff.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with property management/accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage).
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Tech-savvy and proactive, with a focus on continuous process improvement.
