What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President Trading Technology Support position at The Emerald Recruiting Group?
Our client is a New York-based systematic volatility and derivatives-focused hedge fund with a reputation for intellectual rigor and quantitative depth that is well-earned. They operate at the more specialized end of the alternatives universe — this is not a generalist multi-manager, it's a firm where the edge is real and the people who build it are genuinely sharp. If volatility is your asset class and you want to be surrounded by people who think about it as seriously as you do, this is a short list firm.
The Role
You'll own the intersection of client-facing technology and live trading operations across New York hours. That means you're the go-to for investors navigating the platform, the first call when something breaks on the desk, and the local anchor for an enterprise tech organization that spans time zones. London builds it; you keep it running.
This isn't a ticket queue job. The platform you're supporting is investor-facing, the trading systems are live, and the expectations are high.
What You'll Be Doing
- Primary support contact for investors using the firm's proprietary investor platform — own the experience from first contact through resolution
- Real-time trade support during NY hours: order flow, execution issues, EMS triage
- Liaise with brokers, vendors, and internal desks to get problems solved fast
- Serve as the NY technology liaison for the enterprise tech team, coordinating escalations with London-based developers
- Monitor and maintain core trading and risk platforms — performance, reliability, no surprises
What You Bring
- Experience in a high-pressure, fast-moving trading or technology environment — you don't rattle easily
- Strong command of FIX protocol, Linux, and SQL Server — these are non-negotiable
- Hands-on exposure to EMS platforms: EMSX, FlexTrade, or comparable
- Familiarity with Jira, Git, and ServiceNow
- Interpersonal range — equally comfortable talking to a frustrated investor, a trading desk head, or a developer in a different time zone
- Flexibility on hours; this is a live markets role and issues don't wait for 9am
- Python — scripting, automation, diagnostics
- Equities and options market structure knowledge
The Bottom Line
If you've been the person who figures it out while everyone else is still asking what happened, this role was written for you. Our client moves quickly, compensates well, and gives sharp technologists real visibility across the firm—total compensation $250k-$260k.
Salary : $150,000 - $170,000
